CONTEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL ARTISTS ROGER ASAY & REBECCA DAVIS
ARTIST STATEMENT
The collaborative work we have done since 1983 has attempted to bring viewers into direct, intense contact with the raw materials of nature, so that they can come to see themselves as part of the seamless continuity of the natural world. We work through simplification and minimal arrangement of materials to create a clarity that reduces the distance between the viewer and the object.

Asay & Davis are proud to announce the publication of their book:
WOOD & STONE, SUBSTANCE & SPIRIT
The Collaborative Sculpture of Rebecca Davis & Roger Asay
1983-2021
It has been a labor of love to document this 40 year sculptural exploration of earth’s rich environment. The publication is a 243 page, limited edition book, primarily composed of photographic images of their work. The book’s structure contains four sections that include ‘solo’ exhibitions, temporary on-site installations, wood spheres and public art projects.
The Natural History Institute joined us as collaborative publishers and we appreciate their support. We are also pleased to have an introductory essay by the renowned William L Fox, director of Art + Environment at the Reno Museum of Art.
In addition to being available here on the website, the books will be available for purchase at the Asay /Davis art talk and book signing at Tempe Center for the Arts April 12, 2023 6-8pm.
