GALLERY OF NATURAL ART
The collaborative work we have done since 1983 has attempted to bring viewers into direct, intense contact with the raw materials of nature, so that they can come to see themselves as part of the seamless continuity of the natural world. We work through simplification and minimal arrangement of materials to create a clarity that reduces the distance between the viewer and the object.
This is a sampling of Asay/Davis sculpture.
Represented within this sampling of work you find: constructed stick boxes and spheres each made of a particular type of wood; temporary on-site installations of a material in its natural setting; installation pieces created using loose sticks or stone for temporary exhibition in a museum setting; collaged leaf grids; and occasional “found objects” e.g. pieces of wood found to be sculptural in their own right and then sanded and polished for presentation.
